Recology and cleaning

I LOVE Recology Sunset Scavenger! So for the past 2 weeks I've been trying to process the reality that my sweetheart of a friend can no longer store my large amount of GreenStyled materials in his basement. Rolls of remnant fabric for linings, rolls of scrap sceening and bags of gorgeous tumbled glass for necklaces and cuffs, and BAGS, BAGS, BAGS, ... . Ok, time to pull my neck outta' the sand and get to work. Sunday, after I fortify myself with fluffy scrambled eggs, Acme bread, and the most delicious fresh fig jam, and cheese from Cowgirl Creamery in the Ferry Building; I go downstairs and stare for a few minutes at a basement of STUFF. Where does stuff come from? Boxes, and boxes, and boxes ... . Ok, I dive in. YESSSS, 8 hours later I have an awesome clean work place, and a HUGE pile of PAPER. Boxes, tissue, wrapping paper from every birthday and Christmas EVER; and baskets in every size and shape. I know a very creative Easter bunny. LOL. and then there's stuff. Today I wake up ready to schedule a special pick up with Recology Sunset Scavenger; and then I hear the clank, clank, clank of the truck picking up my neighbors bins. ahhh, music to my ears. Grabbing a couple of the bags of paper, I run outside. Not my pick up day, but the guys take the time to make numerous trips into my basement, carrying away my junk. A new GreenStyled atelier. Thank you Reine/Small Business Graphics

Reiki/Repurposed

Went for a Reiki session today. Christopher Tellez has his practice, SF Reiki Center in ACTIVSPACE at 18th and Treat. Feeling renewed I come out onto Treat Street, and walk by the few adorable salons that are part of ACTIVSPACE. The amazing smell of tuba rose candles wafts out of one. A sign in front of Bisa Bisa catches my eye. "Accessories from recycled materials". Love this place! The owner Chelsea is commited to offering a combination of local artists, and sustainable/fair trade work. She asked about the SWEET D handbag. Super excited about showing her all my work next week.

Gift Shops

So there are Art Galleries, and clothing stores, and then there are gift shops. Gift Shps, that's a really big group. No wonder we need a magazine like Gift Shop Magazine to put it all together. Thank you so much to Poornima and Nancy for picking My GreenStyled Cuff as one of the Fab Finds. Check it out in the Gift Shop Magazine winter 2013 issue. Page 150-151. Time to call the Gift shops and give them a show.

Legal Help

So here I am cleaning up my inbox, and I found this great email from Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area. They have this fantastic program called, Legal Services for Entrepreneurs. About 2 years ago I was approved for their program. Then to make the whole thing even more fabulous, I was a guest at their annual MLK luncheon, and feaured in their holiday guide. Legal Services for Entrepreneurs I had 2 amazing lawyers from the firm of Davis Wright Tremaine, working pro bono. Having them help me was so much fun. Not only did they help me work through a couple of legal problems, they loved what I was doing. What an amazing experience. A huge thank you to LCCR, and all the people who do pro bono work. Especially my awesome lawyers, Phil Poirrer and Stephanie Wang.

Art Galleries

When I walked into Modern Eden Gallery in North Beach, Kim the incredibly sweet and savvy, (not always an easy combination), said "what a beautiful necklace". I had come there to see if she felt it would be a nice fit. Now that's what I call getting the year off to a good start; or ending one with a bang. :)))

Labels

I just called It's Mine Labels, the great small business that makes labels. I needed to order some more labels for my GreenStyled Sweet D. Guess what, Lucinda is using my label on her site. I love it. It's Mine Labels sew on labels. Lucinda, the owner is so charming and helpful. As a small business owner herself, she really knew what I needed and wanted. When I first started GreenStyled with the GreenStyled Carry-All I knew a label could help immensely with advertising. What to put on the label, clarity, catchiness, there are so many factors. As GreenStyled evolved, so did the label. Lucinda has such a good eye. She shared and helped me excecute the GreenStyled message; all on a label. WOW

Building Resources

Coming to Building Resources is the perfect San Francisco scavenger hunt. An upcyclers dream. Just off 3rd Street, the wonderful T MUNI Metro will take you right there. I get off at Amador Street and walk across the bridge. If I've given myself enough time, I'll go sit on the beach which overlooks the water. Surrounded by grass it's crazy to think you're right off such a busy Street. I once spotted a sea lion lounging about completely obliious to the urban surroundings. I cross the train tracks and wander down to see what cool old stuff can be made into something new. Wood of every size. Mixed in among the huge splintery planks, I scored a gorgeous redwood dowel. Cut into 1/2" rounds they made perfect huge buttons for the SWEET D I LOVE my city!

Legal Help

This is such a truly awesome organization. Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights They did pro bono work for me to get my copyright for the bags. I had amazing lawyers who not only did the legal work, but really loved all my work. Was invited to attend thier annual lunch as one of the people they helped in thier "legal aid for new entrepreneurs" .
Reine Silverlight of Small Business Graphics, my WWM, (Wonderful Web Mistress), made a great brochure for me. The response was so great. Unfortunately since I got there a bit late I have no pics. One of my NY resolutions,Prepare!

Modern Eden Is a wonderful new gallery in San Franciscos North Beach, and yes I am so excited they are carrying my GreenStyled cuff. Even if they weren't I would tell you to check out this place. On one side at the corner of Francisco and Powell St is the Francisco cafe. On the other side towards Mason Street is Sweeties, ...

North Beach

So I'm strolling up Columbus Ave.in San Francisco's North Beach keeping my antenae out for the perfectt store. Unique, artistic vision, supportive of local designers, a leaning toward repurposed. Haha, is this asking too much. Not in San Francisco where every cool neighborhood from Eco~Citizen on Russian Hill to Collage gallery on Protrero Hill have this spirit and carry my lines. I do this on a regular basis since I work at the North Beach branch of the San Francisco Public Library, when I'm not creating new green accessories. I pass the same luscious places daily, from Florio Restaurant, the most charmingly decorated restaurant in the universe, to Bohemeian Cigar Store, the best place to just chill.
And then, HELLO, where have I been; there is Abitare, this charing shop. Truth be told I stopped in for a postcard when. Cia the owner, and a total sweetie, asked about my SWEET D handbag. Well , you guessed it, they are now in her shop.
So next time you're in North Beach stop into this awesome treasure trove; you're bound to find something.
Abitare is at 522 Columbus Ave between Union and Green right up from the Bohemiam Cigar Store.

earrings and Sunda

Wow this has been an intense month. Overwhelmed by work. Lots of intrest in the Repurposed metal jewelry line. A very cool site called White Apricot saw them and loved them. Now the usual steps; send samples, ... . I'll let you know what happened.
Well this month, which saw me almost having a breakdown, culminated in lunch With cousins I've never met. I think my earrings would look amazing on Sunda. Anyway she's a really funny comedian.
Talk to you later.
